Slow-tanned for strength, structure and longevity, the leather will develop a unique patina with wear. Finished with a solid brass double-prong buckle and handmade entirely in England.

Most belts are chrome tanned — a process that takes 24 hours and produces a soft, uniform leather that looks good in a shop and deteriorates steadily from there. This one is different. The Lifetime Leather Belt is made from full grain leather pit tanned in oak bark at the last remaining oak bark tannery in the UK — a process that takes a minimum of 12 months, during which the tannins in the oak bark slowly cure the hide and produce a leather of exceptional density and strength. It is, by most measures, one of the strongest leathers available anywhere in the world. The buckle and studs are solid brass, made in the UK by Royal Warrant holders established in 1837. Handmade in England. Built to last a lifetime — and named accordingly.

Leather

Full grain oak bark pit tanned leather — the highest grade of leather, taken from the outermost layer of the hide where the fibres are tightest and most durable. Oak bark tanning is the oldest method of leather production: the hides are submerged in pits of oak bark liquor and left for months, absorbing tannins slowly and evenly throughout the hide. The result is a leather that is denser, stiffer, and more resistant to wear than anything produced by faster methods. The natural colour finish means the belt will darken and develop a unique patina with exposure to light and use — like the weathered cotton fabrics in the range, it improves with age and becomes increasingly individual over time.

Hardware

Solid brass two-prong military style buckle, made in the UK by Royal Warrant holders to the King — a manufacturer established in 1837.
